The General Achievement Test (GAT) is a general knowledge test that assesses a range of skills, measures literacy and numeracy standards and supports quality assurance processes.

The 2024 GAT will take place on Tuesday 18 June in 2 parts:

• Section A assesses skills in literacy (reading and writing) and numeracy.
• Section B assesses general knowledge and skills in mathematics, science, technology, the arts and humanities.

The GAT plays an important role in checking that a school’s assessments and examinations have been accurately assessed.
