Japanese Speech Competition 2023

This event is aimed at students from Foundation to Year 10.
Date: 27th August, 2023
Location: Hawthorn Town Hall

The aim of this event is to encourage learners who are studying Japanese to showcase their language skills in a challenging context. It is an opportunity to express their thoughts and ideas in Japanese, and the speech preparation process provides a valuable learning experience. The presentation of the speech before an audience develops their confidence in speaking Japanese.

Years 9-10: Each school is limited to one entry per division.
An individual division competitor will first recite the set passage for their division and then recite a speech of their own creation (maximum time of 60 seconds for their own speech, excludes set speech).
Pair division competitors will first recite the set conversation passage for their division and then together perform a dialogue of their own creation (maximum time of 90 seconds for their own speech, excludes set speech).

Students should meet Ms Kamimura outside Hawthorn Town Hall (360 Burwood Road, Hawthorn) by 8:45am.
